Forever remembered as home to the Alamo, San Antonio also merits focus on die-hard shopping options. Alamo Quarry Market, an open-air mall with smokestacks architecturally reminiscent of the Alamo Cement Company previously on the site, boasts Restoration Hardware, Old Navy, Borders and boutiques and eateries. Rivercenter Mall, downtown on Commerce Street with Dillard's and Foley's, blends indoor shopping with outdoor ambiance along the River Walk. Ingram Park Mall, anchored by Dillard's, Foley's, and Bealls, is home to more than 150 shops, businesses and services. On La Cantera Parkway, the open-air Shops at La Cantera, with Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Foley's, and Dillard's, features more than 150 specialty stores.

Crossroads of San Antonio, anchored by Stein Mart and Burlington Coat Factory, features more than 60 specialty shops. North Star Mall, staking claim to the world's largest cowboy boots (40 feet high), and five anchors -- Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Dillard's, Foley's, and Mervyn's -- also boasts more than 200 specialty stores and restaurants. Northeast, Rolling Oaks Mall, anchored by Dillard's, Foley's, and Sears, has 100 specialty shops. The updated South Park Mall, anchored by Foley's, JCPenney, Sears and Mervyn's, has 70 specialty stores including Victoria's Secret. Westlakes Mall is anchored by Target, and Windsor Park Mall, on the northeast side, is anchored by Mervyn's. Prime Outlets San Marcos has more than 125 name-brand shops in a hacienda-style setting, and Tanger Factory Outlet Center, next door, has more than 75 outlet shops including Cavender's Boot City.
